Another one bites the dust.

Normal life resumes today ... back to work after last weeks break. Getting up at 4.30 am again was a bit of a struggle, but I eventually dragged myself out of bed without too many problems. After feeling so unwell last week, I am beginning to feel a lot better .... still not A1, but better ... well enough to work of course ( not that there was any doubt about me going to work .... as my friends tell me, I don't do sick ... ).

In work itself, not a lot had changed .... a weeks worth of paperwork just left for me to complete because those covering for me DIDN'T HAVE TIME ( and like I do ? ), the oven looking not that clean ( but I suppose it could have been worse ), everything moved around so I found it hard to find anything, the orders being messed up even though I had prepared them in advance for them before I left ... all they had to do was put them onto the PC and send them on time ( which they DIDN'T manage to do AGAIN ), any stock I needed in a hurry still upstairs in the bulk freezer ( so I had to go and get it,bring it down to my work area then leave it to defrost for a while before I could cook any of it ..). just the usual way my section is left for me after a break. .... :-( ...I'm used to it by now. I just put my head down and got on with what I had to do. The human attachment to the ovens was back... not that anyone really noticed or cared ..... the invisible girl has returned.

In the store as a whole, there was some news - Stuart, our manager, was leaving after just under a year here. Not a complete surprise : he has hardly been in the store much the last few months, always helping out at other stores and their refits/refurbishments ( the classic indicator of someone probably moving on ). He is moving on to " larger projects" in mid-March... and the best of luck to him. I have got on OK with him ... he is almost as nuts as I am ... so I am a little sad to see him go, but that is the way it goes. I try not to get too "friendly" with management.. they tend to come and go, and I'm still here. Can make life difficult with the New manager if you are seen to be one of the previous one's favourites ..... Oh well, that is another one gone ... I think that is 3 or 4 managers since I've been here ( just coming up to 5 years ). They all seem to use this place and the position of Manager as a stepping stone on to bigger and better things, which is all well and good for them, but it would be nice for them to stick around for a little longer. We, as staff, just get used to one persons way of working, of what they want and how they want it done, when they go .... and the cycle starts again. At the moment, no-one knows who might replace Stuart ... should be interesting .... just have to wait and see. Here we go again ........
